Abstract

Background: In addition to habituating in striated muscles, Trichinella spiralis can produce systemic inflammatory responses throughout the body. Migrating new-born larvae (NBL) are the most harmful stages of the process, as they pass through different organs. The majority of trichinellosis treatments show poor absorption and significant resistance. Hence, it is essential for the creation of new effective drugs.

Aim of the study: This study aimed to measure the therapeutic efficacy of silver nanoparticles loaded with Nigella Sativa oil in trichinosis-infected mice through parasitological, histopathological, and immunological parameters and scanning electron microscopy.

Material and methods: One hundred thirty (130) laboratory-bred parasite-free, swiss male albino mice were utilized in the current work, and they were divided into six groups.

Results: This study revealed that the smallest mean adult count comprised in Nigella sativa oil loaded with silver nanoparticles group and also demonstrated the most successful eradication of adults, with the medication effectiveness of 92.8% then albendazole-treated infected subgroup showed a 91.4% drop in adult count.

Conclusion: Nigella sativa impacts significantly on trichinosis infected mice, while loading on silver nanoparticles, highly improves its efficacy.
