Abstract
Background: Hydrocele is the buildup of fluid in the area between the inner and outer layers of the tunica vaginalis (TV) in the scrotum. It is a frequent cause of scrotal enlargement in adult males.
Aim and objectives: To evaluate the outcome of the minimally invasive techniques of surgery in the treatment of primary hydrocele in adults.
Patients and methods: In this study,50 patients presented with primary hydrocele and attended the surgical outpatient clinic at Al-Azhar University Hospitals. Bilateral cases only will be included.
Results: Our study demonstrated that the minimally invasive approach for the treatment of primary hydrocele in adults using Lord's plication technique is safe and effective, offering relatively short operative times, low complication rates, short hospital stays, and high patient satisfaction. Nevertheless, additional extensive research with extended durations of observation is necessary to authenticate our discoveries and further enhance the surgical procedure and postoperative care.
Conclusion: The results of our study indicate that the minimally invasive method of treating primary hydrocele in adults, specifically employing Lord's plication technique, is both safe and successful. This strategy is associated with shorter operation times, low rates of complications, brief hospital stays, and high levels of patient satisfaction.
