Abstract
Background: Scars are a prevalent and unpleasant consequence of injuries caused by various factors. They have an important effect on the physical and mental health of the affected subjects. Immediate and effective first aid and initial management are essential components of burn treatment. Patients must be thoroughly evaluated, and a treatment protocol must be carefully planned. Aim and objectives: to study the effectiveness of CO2 fractional laser treatment for therapeutic purposes compared with nanofat injection in improving facial post burn scar with fine irregularities. Subjects and methods: This study was conducted at Plastic Surgery and burn department, Faculty of medicine – Al Azhar University on 30 patients who divided into 3 groups. Results: regarding group 3, there is a significant reduction in pain, itching, color, stiffness, thickness, irregularity, and total POSAS patient. However, the best improvement was found in group 3 compared to group 1 & 2. Conclusion: The present research demonstrated that the use of nano-fat injection and/or CO2 laser groups significantly enhanced the aesthetics and symptoms of post-burn scars. However, the combination of autologous nano-fat injection and CO2 laser resulted in greater improvement in irritation, pigmentation, and stiffness than laser alone.. Other outcomes were non significantly differed between all three treatments.
