Abstract
Background:A class of fat-soluble steroid hormones known as vitamin D is in charge of reabsorbing different ions including calcium, magnesium, and phosphate.
Aim of the work: to research the link between vitamin D insufficiencyand bacterial vaginosis in women with gestational diabetes and subsequent impact of vit D deficiency on maternal and fetal outcome.
Patients & Methods: a prospective cohort researchwas carried out from January 2020 till April 2022 on 100 pregnant women at al hussien university hospital.
Results: Regarding the vitamin D status in 2nd trimester among all patients, the present findings revealed that 58 % of studied cases have vitamin D deficiency, while regarding the vitamin D status during 3rd trimester among all patients, the present study revealed improvement in vitamin D level and only 7 % of the studied cases have vitamin D deficiency.
Conclusion:Deficiency of vitamin D seems to significantly affect the frequency or occurrence of BV and GDM during pregnancy.
