Abstract

Abstract Background: In sexually active women, PolyCystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most prevalent endocrine metabolic condition, Aim and objectives: The purpose of this study was to discover the relationship between abortion and polycystic ovary syndrome. Subjects and methods: The research was conducted at the obstetrics and gynecology department's outpatient clinic, Al-Azhar University Hospitals within six months started from 1st December 2019 till 1st June 2020. Result; there was significantly increase in the incidence of abortion in PCOS group (group A) compared to non PCOS group (group B) (p= 0.041). Conclusion: In conclusion, our research reveals that PCOS has a greater impact on the risk of spontaneous abortion in pregnant women than previously thought. This could be attributed to the high prevalence of obesity in their population. Women having PCOS are more likely to have an unfavorable pregnancy and birth outcome, and may require more monitoring through pregnancy and parturition.
